That’s What Happens When You Wait

WAIT.

We hate this word, because we want it now.

If you were going to a restaurant would you prefer to wait an hour or sit immediately? Whoever picked wait an hour, send me an email and let’s talk about it.

We don’t like to wait but there are some things that are worth the wait. One of my favorite dishes are these amazing asian braised short ribs. It takes a minimum of 3 hours to prepare. As a self proclaimed foodie, and CEO of the Test Kitchen I know about the importance of cooking low and slow.

Some of the best meals you’ll eat in life won’t be prepared quickly. Any good Haitian dish takes about 2-3 business days of preparation.

It’s all worth the wait, but it’s easy to wait when you know what’s coming and when it will be there. I know you have to wait on that package but at least it has a tracking number.

It’s not as simple to track the dream that God has placed on your heart, or that business or relationship.

I find myself asking God - when is it coming, where is it coming from, how will it come? All these factors complicate the wait.

I’m learning to find rest in the wait. We are usually restless when we wait but can waiting become a restful experience?

How can I let go of the fear and anxiety of waiting?

Is there something blocking how I trust God?

Here’s a quick exercise - take a moment to be silent with God and listen to

Wait On You - Elevation + Mav City.

A waiting season doesn’t have to be a wasted season, wait well, wait expectant.

One Verse

I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.  - Psalms 40:1

One More Thought From Me

Start to picture God giving you new strength, new ideas. Think about the areas that you feel tired and worn out from waiting. Ask God for renewed hope to keep on waiting.
