Take Breaks Often
I love to travel. I enjoy it and I’m grateful that I get to do a little bit of travel in this panoramic, I mean pandemic.
Travel might not be your thing, it might cause you more stress than peace but I think that no matter what you do, you should take breaks often.
Now I said this to one of my students and they took it the wrong way. She said, “this is why I need to take multiple naps in the day”. That is what you call missing the point my friends. I’m guilty of taking the wrong kinds of breaks at times too. I clean for 10 minutes and rest for 20. That is not what I mean when I say take breaks often, but you should plan to take a break.
Maybe it’s a weekend away with friends, maybe it’s a staycation. Take your PTO, use your vacation days.
Have a day and make a point to enjoy life.
Try planning some time off. If you’re one of those people who struggle with taking a break let me give you some practical steps.
Step 1 - Pick a day or days
Step 2 - Decide if you’ll be solo or bring friends
Step 3 - Pick a place(s)
Step 4 - Make a plan (can be a loose one)
Step 5 - Put your phone down
Here’s a list of ideas:
See the sunrise or sunset
Have a picnic
Pick a great restaurant
Read a book
Listen to music
Journal
Go to the spa
Go to a city you’ve never been to
One Verse
Ecclesiastes 8:15 - So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.
